Meal planning, for so many of us, is one of the most stressful household tasks.
Finding a meal everyone enjoys is hard enough, so I’ve often resorted to one of two options: being a short-order cook, making different things for everyone, or relying on takeout.
But after months of DoorDash and Uber Eats, I'm swinging back to home cooking.
In addition to the insane fees, takeout orders were often wrong, unsatisfying, and never left any leftovers, making it Groundhog Day every single day.
So I'm sharing my latest re-commitment to finding a sustainable way to provide hearty, healthy meals around work and after-school activities.
The biggest pain points I’ve heard from our Mother AI community:
- Getting my kids involved in meal planning and prep in helpful ways
- Timing meals that can be cooked and eaten in between busy weekday schedules
- Reconciling school lunch and snack options that are nutritious kids will eat
- Creatively using up leftovers and pantry staples to reduce waste
- Modifying recipes for allergies and dietary restrictions
- Creating meals that work for babies and toddlers (purees, finger foods, and family meals that can be easily modified)
Since we don't have Rosie Jetson or an affordable meal prep chef, meal planning has to be a family affair.
I've put together a list of prompts to help tackle each pain point using AI. It's not stress-free, but stress-less. Not time-saving, but time-efficient.
Changing how we approach meal planning is worth it.
