This year my family is renting a cabin for the holidays, so now we're not just contending with one meal... but multiple meals for multiple days.
Last week, I sat on a group call to discuss who's vegan, who doesn't eat pork, who needs to be easy on the sugar this year, and so much more.
While I zoned out as all the meal planning was flying around (hello, holiday overwhelm!), I came up with this week's prompts for holiday meal planning and applied them to the perfect use case... my family of 35 people ranging in age from 6 months to 60+.
The biggest pain points we had to contend with while planning this family affair:
- Managing multiple dietary restrictions and allergies at holiday gatherings
- Timing holiday meal prep and cooking when there's so many people and dishes so that everything is timed perfectly (what can we cook night before vs. day of)
- Making dishes that travel well when visiting family
- Planning dishes that work for both adults and picky kids
- Creating backup plans when kids won't eat the holiday spread
- Hosting extended family while maintaining kids' routines
While there will be a few main chefs, a few sous chefs, and lots of opinions, AI can help keep things organized and the "hangry" moods at bay.
Again, it's not stress-free, but stress-less. Not time-saving, but time-efficient.
Making our holiday meal planning and execution more bearable so we can get to the important part -- the family time
